RAG Solutions for Claude — connector guide

Last updated: 2026-10-13

The RAG Solutions connector lets Claude set up your own hosted Odoo and then work inside it with you: run your sales pipeline, manage project delivery, keep your contacts and orders up to date, build dashboards, and configure Odoo itself (custom fields, record types, screens and automation rules). Everything happens in your conversation, as you, on your own account.

1. Before you start

  • A RAG Solutions account. You can create one while connecting: on our sign-in page, choose Continue with Google and your 30-day free trial starts straight away. No payment is taken in Claude; subscriptions are managed on our website.
  • A Claude app that supports connectors: Claude on the web, the desktop or mobile apps, or Claude Code.
  • Nothing to install. The connector is a hosted service; your Odoo is hosted by us.

2. Connect Claude

From the Connectors Directory

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and search for RAG Solutions.
  2. Select Connect. Claude opens our sign-in page.
  3. Sign in (or start your free trial with Google) and allow access.
  4. You are back in Claude, connected. Start a new conversation.

By URL (custom connector)

If the listing is not available to you yet, add the same server by its address:

https://app.rag-solutions.cloud/mcp
  • Claude (web, desktop): Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the address, leave the OAuth fields empty, then sign in when asked. Claude registers itself; there is no Client ID to copy.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http rag-solutions https://app.rag-solutions.cloud/mcp, then run /mcp to sign in.

3. Things to try

  • rag start: the name you gave the connector, followed by start (here the connector is called rag). Claude sets up a new Odoo instance with you.
  • Analyse my website, example.com, and create an Odoo instance. Claude reads the site you name, shows you what it found, and creates and starts your instance once you agree. You get the Odoo address and your admin login in the conversation.
  • How is my pipeline doing this quarter, by salesperson?
  • Which deals have gone quiet for more than three weeks? Schedule a follow-up call for each one with its owner.
  • What is overdue or blocked in the Website Redesign project?
  • Create a project for the Acme onboarding with stages To do, In progress, Review and Done, and a milestone for go-live.
  • Add a "Contract end date" field to our customers and show it on the form.
  • Build me a dashboard of won revenue by month and open deals by stage.
  • Generate leads from the brief I activated in Odoo.

4. What it can read and change

Reads tools only look. Changes tools create or update something. Can remove tools can overwrite or delete data. Claude asks for your approval before changing anything, so you always see the action before it happens.

Your Odoo instances

get_odoo_setup_requirementsReadsWhat a new instance needs: required and optional company details, the valid languages, timezones and currencies, and the instances you already have
get_odoo_instance_optionsReadsValid language, timezone and currency codes
list_odoo_instances, get_odoo_instanceReadsYour instances and their settings (passwords are never shown)
get_odoo_instance_statusReadsWhether an instance is provisioning, ready or failed
create_odoo_instanceChangesSaves a new instance from your company details; generates the admin password
start_odoo_instanceChangesCreates the database and configures Odoo (takes a few minutes)
set_odoo_logoChangesSets your company logo from an image address
delete_odoo_instanceCan removeSchedules an instance for deletion: it goes offline at once and its database is kept for 7 days, during which you can cancel on the web page

Lead generation

create_leads_from_briefChangesFiles the companies Claude researched as leads on that brief

Everything else in Odoo

list_odoo_models, list_odoo_companiesReadsWhat data types and companies exist
odoo_search_readReadsFinds records of any type: contacts, products, orders, invoices
query_odoo_instanceReadsOne read-only SQL SELECT for analysis, outside Odoo's record rules. Off until you enable "Direct SQL & schema" in your Odoo settings; writes and credential data are always refused
odoo_createChangesCreates one record
odoo_write, odoo_unlinkCan removeUpdates records; archives records (reversible), or deletes them permanently after a preview that names each one
odoo_executeCan removeRuns a business action such as confirming an order or posting an invoice (Odoo action_…/button_… methods only)

Dashboards

dashboard_list, dashboard_get, dashboard_get_schema_helpReadsYour dashboards and the widget formats
dashboard_create, dashboard_add_widgetChangesBuilds dashboards that stay in your Odoo
dashboard_update, dashboard_remove_widget, dashboard_deleteCan removeChanges or deletes them

Customising Odoo

list_customizationsReadsEvery customisation your instance already has
add_custom_field, create_custom_model, show_field_on_screen, hide_field_on_screen, rename_field, set_field_behavior, set_default_value, add_automation_ruleChangesAdds fields and record types, changes what a screen shows and how a field behaves, adds "when X happens, do Y" rules
remove_custom_field, remove_customizationCan removeDeletes a custom field and its data, after a preview of what would be lost; undoes a screen change

5. Permissions and safety

  • It acts as you. Claude signs in with your account and sees only your instances. Inside an instance it works as that instance's administrator, which is what you are. Your subscription is checked on every request. When a trial or subscription ends, the tools stop working, and they come back when you renew, without reconnecting.
  • Deletion is guarded by the connector itself. Removing records archives them unless a permanent deletion is asked for, and a permanent deletion, or removing a custom field, only happens on a second call after a preview naming exactly what goes. Deleting an instance from Claude only schedules it: the instance goes offline and its database is kept for 7 days, and you can cancel on the web page. Every tool is also labelled read-only or not, so Claude can ask before changing anything.
  • No credentials. Passwords, API keys, tokens and other secrets are never readable through the connector, including through SQL.
  • Configuration, never code. Customisation tools change the settings of your own database. They cannot write, upload or install Odoo modules or run code, and no other customer's instance is affected.
  • Provisioning is fixed. Creating an instance runs our own audited setup process; Claude only supplies your company details. It cannot run commands on our servers.
  • No payments in the conversation. Subscriptions are handled on our website only.
  • Passwords. The generated Odoo admin password is shown once, when the instance is created. Save it then; it cannot be shown again.

6. Limits

  • Which Odoo apps are installed is set by us per server, not chosen in the conversation.
  • How many instances you can create depends on your plan.
  • Setting up a new instance takes a few minutes; Claude checks its status until it is ready.
  • Logos must be an image address, under 64 KB.
  • Lead generation works only from a brief you created and activated in Odoo (CRM → Leads → Generate Leads).
  • An instance owner can switch the customisation tools off in Odoo (Settings → RAG Odoo MCP Server → Optional features → Developer mode).
  • Large searches are capped (500 records per search, 2,000 rows per query).

7. Disconnecting and your data

  • To disconnect, remove the connector in Claude (Customize → Connectors). Your account and instances are not affected.
  • While connected, the data Claude reads to answer you is sent to Claude, the AI provider you chose. We do not send your data to any AI provider ourselves. See our privacy policy and data processing agreement.
  • To close your account and have your data deleted, use Close my account in the footer of your customer page.

8. Troubleshooting

"Couldn't reach the MCP server" when connecting
Check that the address is exactly https://app.rag-solutions.cloud/mcp, including https:// and the path, then try again.
Sign-in finished but Claude says authorization failed
Remove the connector and add it again, so Claude starts a fresh sign-in.
A tool answers that your subscription or trial has ended
Renew on our website. The tools work again on the next request.
A data tool says the instance is not ready
Provisioning is still running. Ask Claude to check the status again in a minute.
A customisation tool says the feature is disabled
Turn on Developer mode in your Odoo (see Limits), save, and ask again.
